El-Kab & Valley of the Kings
The Valley of the Kings Demotic Graffiti Project begins its fourth field season in June 2010. The team is returning to the Valley of the Kings in order to re-examine and in some cases, re-photograph, a small group of Demotic graffiti recorded earlier. The team will be looking at graffiti in approximately 10 royal tombs in the valley.  Most of the texts are short votive prayers, including a series of texts by Djedhor, a local priest who seems to have acted as a "tour guide" to ancient visitors. In addition the team will be traveling south to El-Kab to record the Demotic graffiti at the Amenhotep III shrine and the Ptolemaic temple. There are smaller numbers of graffiti at that site that have been unrecorded so far. It is hoped that all the work will be completed by mid-July.
