The American Research Center in Egypt, Inc. (ARCE) understands the importance of protecting the privacy of personal information, especially in today’s increasingly electronic environment. ARCE seeks to enhance services for ARCE members and constituents with strong privacy protections for data collected by ARCE. As a result, ARCE has adopted the following policy to protect member and constituent data with appropriate control over use, accuracy, and availability.
Member and constituent data are the property of ARCE. This data may not, in whole or in part, be reproduced, copied, disseminated, entered into a computer database, used as part of or in connection with the preparation, revision, or confirmation of a mailing, telephone, fax, email or other marketing effort, except as outlined in this policy.

Member and constituent data may be shared only with ARCE staff and volunteer workers working with staff as needed. However, ARCE will not share personal information with third parties for their independent use, except as identified below.
a) Chapters and Members: Chapters play a vital role in keeping members connected to ARCE. ARCE may provide Chapters with member data for the purposes of communicating with those ARCE members who have expressed a desire to be affiliated with a specific Chapter. By opting to be affiliated with a Chapter, the member is giving permission to that Chapter to communicate with him or her about that Chapter’s activities and ARCE events. ARCE does not provide member data to any Chapter unless that member has communicated a desire to be affiliated with that specific Chapter. ARCE expressly disclaims all liability for damages of any kind arising out of the use by Chapters or members of any member and constituent data.
b) Law-related Disclosures: ARCE may disclose member or constituent data as required by law or if, at the sole discretion of ARCE, disclosure is necessary to protect the institution.
c) Emergency Circumstances: ARCE may disclose member or constituent data if, in ARCE’s sole judgment, such disclosure is necessary to protect the health, safety or property of any person.
d) External Links: External Links to independent third parties, such as members’ institutional sites are provided as a courtesy and do not constitute an endorsement or sponsorship of the third parties that operate those websites. While we try to link only to sites and services that share our high standards and respect for privacy, ARCE is not responsible for the policies and content of those sites.
