St. Antony's Monastery Conservation
An ancient church in the Coptic Monastery of St. Antony at the Red Sea contains a unique cycle of thirteenth century Coptic wall paintings. They constitute the most complete and best preserved iconographic program of Christian paintings to come from medieval Egypt.
Since 1996, ARCE has worked with the monastery on several projects including the wall paitings, conservation and display of historic buildings under the Church of the Holy Apostles, and the museum.
INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL OF MUSEUMS
The International Council of Museums, in an effort to fight against illicit traffic in cultural goods, compiles the Emergency Red List of Egyptian Cultural Objects at Risk. This list aims to help art and heritage professionals and law enforcement officials identify Egyptian objects that are protected by national and international legislations.
